Best news ever: I'm getting a CD player (with an auxiliary input!) installed in my car tomorrow. This is truly a joyous occasion. I will celebrate with an excessive list of Songs of the Moment.

i haven't heard much sonic youth newer than the early 90's since, according to their fans, then when they started going down hill. You'd probably like "Screaming Fields of Sonic Love". It's a best of of their early work and has some good Kim singing tracks. My favorite is "Confusion is Sex" it's a good background album.

Washing Machine is my favorite album, but their new one is almost as good. It reminds of Washing Machine more than any album since that one came out in '95 or so. Kathleen is right; Sonic Youth is good background music -- especially when they get going on one of their 20-minute jams. Awesome live, too.

sonic youth needs more 20 minute jams. actually their one and only is on that record and it's only live showings happened during lollapalooza of 95or6.. many punk rockers became hippies on that tour. for lack of a better term. sy is sure a different group after the absence of jim o rourke ( ... )
