But seriously. Somehow, Defoe makes you beg for the book to end during the parts about shooting wolves and Friday torturing a bear into dancing. Really, it's not awesome. It's annoying, and he keeps describing their teeth, when the book should've ended pages and pages ago, at the return to Europe.

So he names Friday himself. From the time I was little, that always bugged me that the native was named "Friday." It just seemed like Defoe could not be bothered to come up with something the least bit authentic.

But out of deference to you, I will go out of my way to not read this awful book.
