I did the great backyard bird count, and while there were no woodpeckers to add to the fire there were was a northern flicker. Roadrunner: run in road in front of car, briefly fly to avoid being squashed-by-corolla-and-girl-unfamiliar-with-finance's-new-car, new bird added to bird list. Don't care it wasn't it yard, almost hit, going in list. Also of note: soaring Cooper's hawk, Juniper Titmouse, and quails that run with funny head appendage thrust forward like mini-rhinos.

Three lists submitted (two in yard on two separate days, one along river today). Two new birds: Ring-Beaked Gull (26 along river, but also occasionally flying over yard), and 2 Ross's Goose, which look like Snow Goose but "sweeter" - rounder head, beady little black eyes, shorter beak. They were in with a flock of about 140 Canada Geese along the riverbank today. AFAIK, the only GBBC listing of Ross's Goose in NM this year. Whoo-hoo!

Hmmmmmm. "Finance's" new car? Maybe you should check your bank account to see if you have the fiance's to buy a new truck? Ho ho.
