Now this is a perfect example of what makes Snape pairings so interesting. Beauty and the Beast. I love the hand positioning (and oh, most everything else!). My two sickles however, would be to make the hands a touch smaller (they look like Hagrid hands Jr ;)... And perhaps have the eyes just a touch less bulgy (and house-elfie) on top.
This is lovely. I love working with pastels, but find them too messy. It's nice to see someone manipulate them so carefully to get all those lovely details. That intensity in the colors too! Yay for old pastels! Very nice. :)
Thanks for your comment. Yes, pastels are a huge mess...my hands (and the pastel sticks themselves) become grey from the pigments, despite constantly stopping to wipe my hands off with baby wipes. And the pastel dust falling all over me and the work area is a mess too. But I love how pastels look...and the nifty textures you can get. :)
With older art supplies, I love the shades of colors that you can no longer buy. A few of the colors (the reds and blues, in particular) are much more intense that what you can purchase nowadays. This is probably due to those colors using pigments that have since been withdrawn for use due to their toxicity. I keep wondering if that intense blue might have something like cobalt 60 in the pigment. ;)
Some artists will even purchase dried-out tubes of oil paint and grind the dried paint down and add fresh linseed oil so that the old pigments can be used for new paintings.
