Character:

Character's Name: Momiji Inubashiri
Character's Fandom: Touhou Project
Character's Home Universe: Gensokyo

Physical Appearance: Image
Momiji is of somewhat average height, appearing to look slightly taller than she actually is due to her tengu geta platforms. Her outfit follows a fairly traditional guard motif for Japan, though with the addition of detached kimono sleeves, a white ball of fur on her collar, and a hakama style skirt.

She is very androgynous, though not to the degree as some Touhou characters. Having a gender neutral name and generally masculine personality doesn't help much. That being said, she doesn't particularly MIND being mistaken for a boy. It actually helps her be taken more seriously as a Guard Captain.

Momiji's wolf features physically end with the ears and tail. However, she has several wolf like instincts and has been caught, more than once, scratching her self with her foot. It's very awkward to explain.

Personality: Momiji represents, above all things, loyalty and dedication. She lives by her word and is seen as the purest example of Ookami culture, who put a great emphasis on the honor of servitude (this makes her very Japanese in that sense). She takes her job very seriously, and Aya's attitude usually causes her to become very frustrated and snappy, often leading to fights between the two. They can range anywhere from small arguments to danmaku duels, but they're usually alright by the end of it. She just finds Aya so bothersome...

Beyond that, Momiji is a very formal but generally nice person. She is quick to make friends and will stick with them through all sorts of things. She is also notably patient and meditative. A lot of her personality seems to be drawn from the archetypal "samurai" retainer. Which, outside of her dabbling in journalism at Aya's behest, is exactly what she is.

Abilities and Skills: Momiji is a swordsman primarily. And in spite of her distinctly Japanese look, the type of blade she wields lends much better to a more wushu manner of fighting. The Iron Fang is a massive scimitar, as tall as Momiji and heavy enough to strain even strong men trying to wield it. The only way she is even able to use it is because she has been trained since she was just a pup to be able to do so. Because of this, her goal is to keep the blade in momentum for as long as possible, each slice and thrust gaining in strength and speed as it moves. This makes her particularly devastating against large numbers of enemies, but not so effective in one on one fights. The blade, however, is indestructible, allowing her to clash it against any number of weapons without worry of it losing its edge.

Momiji's other tool is the equally indestructible Momiji Crest (she's named after the shield, not the other way around). It's a small, white buckler style shield with a red Japanese maple leaf painted on it that she uses to supplement defense given the Iron Fang is a slow mover. She will used this to block blows that get past Iron Fang, projectiles, or bludgeon in close range. It's marked with a red maple leaf and looks appropriately worn for an old battle relic. Still, she tries to take care of both her weapons diligently, given they are her family's sacred treasures.

In spite of her weapons and fighting style leading towards being a powerhouse, Momiji is actually exceptionally quick footed. While not nearly as fast as Aya, she's still able to perform amazing feats of speed. She also has enhanced senses, allowing her to see and hear across great distances or through normally sound proof objects/perceive through fog. These supplementary abilities help her more as an aspiring journalist than as a warrior, of course, but such well trained reflexes make her a formidable opponent for those who try to fight her as one would a normal power fighter.

In addition to her skill as a fighter, Momiji has the typical abilities of flight and danmaku that most characters in the series share. Momiji's flight speed, as a tengu, is several times greater than average. All of her spellcards are listed here. Though it should be noted that Momiji is not ALLOWED to use full strength, so the first two are likely the only ones you will ever see unless it’s a dire situation.
