I am sorry to hear that Oona...it's hard to be at odds with your partner. I too, love showing people I care through gifting, I have made a WHOLE lot of presents this year...so so many ~laugh~ It's helping with the finances that is for sure...
I would like to do that.. make the gifts... it would be me makingthem all at this point... a lot of work... good thing this yr I have 3 nieces to worry about.... and not adults.. but still financially we have to contribute to a charity with Jim's fam.. and I am not sure how much they are expecting... hopefully not much..
I love to make presents! And my girls love it too. I had a conversation with Athena the other day that went something like this:
Her:But presents take so long to make mommy. Me:Yes, and we know that, so when you get something from someone that is homemade, you know they REALLY love you because it takes so much hard work to make things instead of going to the store and just buying things.
Would it help if you guys sat down and set a budget for Christmas gifts and just worked within that? So much for each person on the list...it's how we've survived Christmas all these years!! We've gotten away from that the last couple of years to our detriment...back to the budget this year and hopefully less stress. Stuff that you make may be less expensive than what you buy but the materials still cost something so make sure you figure that into your budget, too.
