Katherine Hepburn

My grandmother and I took road trips together. Our first was when she took me to NYC in 1969 to see Peter Pan performed at Radio City Music Hall. (For a very long time I sincerely believed that it was Mary Martin in that role, I've since learned that she hadn't played that part onstage since 1954). I was four years old. This was the trip where we ( Read more... )

It's amazing how the slightest of experiences and meetings with people can affect your whole life. Twas a wonderful story! I hope to have some grand experiences like that. Nonnie sounds like a wonderful woman. I too suffer from the curse of tomboy-ism! My mother is still working on giving me manners.

Only time will tell though. You have such great stories and wisdom, it's so neat. You really are a faerie godmother..hehe;-)

Wow. My story about meeting Ian Anderson while wadering around in underage drunkenness and accidentally stumbling into the backstage area of the amphitheatre isn't nearly as interesting. Funnier, though, since I spoke to him for 5 minutes, shook his hand, asked him where the bathroom was, and walked off before realizing who he was. :) I got a few steps away and it hit me, so I ran back to him and apologized for being drunk and told him I had been a fan since I was in the womb, which in retrospect prolly wasn't the most kosher thing to say. Maybe I should try to meet him again when we go see Tull in a few weeks and have a better experience.

That was a wonderful memory, as was the others. I only wish that I knew Nonnie, she sounds like a grand old dame. As for Katherine Hepburn....everyone could learn a thing from that remarkable woman, you idolatry is well founded and I am glad you had the chance to meet her. I am even happier you told these tales, and eagerly await the Hells Angel Jitterbug story...you have a remarkable felicity of descriptive story telling that rivals Alice Hoffman. You make it all seem so very much in the present, so clear to the mind's eye.

Oh wow! That was a wonderful story. You wrote about it beautifully.

I've also had a lifelong admiration for Katherine Hepburn. I don't think I could have had as much poise as you had if I had met her though!

I can't wait for the Hell's Angels jitterbug pit stop story!
