It would seem there are two ways of getting home from Lily's after nine at night. The first is to take a taxi. The second is to have an adventure. Tonight I took the latter option. :)

My dreams last night were loud, chaotic and overly colourful; I have woken with a craving for stillness and quiet.

Today I saw the staccato flutter of a child's heart, beneath a couple of layers of skin. Seriously. His vulnerability took my breath away.

What was originally intended to be a romantic weekend for two women (plus baby) degenerated into eight of us squished into an admittedly fairly large holiday house in Jervis bay. Job interview this morning went well, and now its over. I am never particularly smooth in these situations, but it is a truth universally acknowledged that i do not find it difficult to talk about teaching and children, so that helped. Soaking in a bath with great globs of lavender scented cocoa and shea butter floating in it while reading poetry, makes the world into a much less troubling place.

Some days, I dream about having a holiday from children. That sounds awful, but between home and work, it feels unrelenting.

Bush walking with pre-schoolers... the ranger warned us that there were some nesting plovers which may swoop us. The little fellow holding my hand was quite nervous, and kept muttering "no lovers are going to get me... no lovers will get me ever". Had to restrain myself from telling him he was probably wrong.
