pressure canner shopping

I'm looking into pressure canners so that I can put up tomatoes and some other things more safely this year. If you have had good experiences with a particular type, size, or brand, please comment. Thanks!

Well, I use Fagor pressure cookers - not their canners - and I gotta say I love it. They use precision springs instead of weights for the pressure regulation.

Thanks for the tip. Looks as though they max out at a 10-quart size, however. They say it's an appropriate size for home canning, but it wouldn't actually process many jars at once and can't fit quart jars at all. If I do decide to get a pressure cooker, though, I'll keep Fagor in mind!

Right now I'm looking at a 21 1/2 quart "All-American" brand weighted-gauge pressure canner.

I'm fairly content with my Mirro, which does litres, er, quarts.

Thanks. What I've found is that the Mirro uses a gasket that needs replacing regularly, whereas the All-American does not. Also I saw a comment somewhere that complained about the Mirro's manual not being very clear. The manual issue I'm not too worried about, but I'd rather not deal with having to replace a part over and over again.

How much use does it take before your canner's gasket wears out?
