The irrationality of preschoolers:

M: Come here so I can lotion you after your bath.

E: The floor is too cold for my feet! *stricken crying*

M: Okay, then sit on the [polka-dot] mat on the sofa [which she uses every single day]

E: I cannot sit on this mat. There are too many dots for me. *sobbing*

Just... what.

I came across these at my favourite consignment store. Perfect condition, perfect fit. I stared at myself wearing them for a good 15 minutes. They were just so beautiful. They made my feet look gorgeous.

Little E is leaving daycare when she sees her friend eating goldfish crackers. Her eyes get wide and hungry. She stands right in front of her friend and motions to take one. I catch her and say "E, those aren't yours. You can't just take them ( Read more... )

It's bedtime, but Little E doesn't want to go to sleep.

Little E: I'm not tired. I don't want to close my eyes.
Me: Okay, you don't have to if you don't want to. You can keep your eyes open. You can open them really big.
Little E: NO! Not really big. If I open them really big I will be a monster.

J: You're so sweaty today
Little E: yeah
J: What should we do to cool you down? [thinking: cool washcloth]
Little E: ICE CREAM!
J: .... where do we get ice cream?
Little E: uh... .uh... Costco!

Haha! Luckily we had planned a trip to Costco so she got what she wanted!

Little E has an eczema flare-up and has scratched herself to the point of almost bleeding.

J: Little E, we need to take you to an allergist. Do you know what that is?
Little E: Yeah
J: What is it?
Little E: I dunno.
J: ...

Baby G is up 3 times a night for feeds, which is tough on me. Luckily, she doesn't have day/night reversal, so once she's done feeding, she stays asleep until the next feed. Sadly I can't say the same for me. I can usually go back to sleep fairly easily at 1am and I'm a zombie at 6/7am, but the middle one between 3-5am is the hardest. I feel like ( Read more... )

Little E learned to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in 3 languages from daycare: English, Mandarin, and Japanese (?!). I'm pretty impressed! She knows that they're in different languages too, and will sing the different versions upon request.
