Awww! This is well thought out and sweet. <3 I think we want the same things out of fic (partners, random intimate details, who does the dishes), I just happen to grab for it in hetfic instead of femslash most of the time. I never thought of it as domestic world-building, but I suppose it is. Two or five or thirty years after the Happy Ever After, how does it look?
I love the same things in femslash. This is really what I look for when I read too.
I like fics where they're getting together and then settle into that committed relationship because I like seeing how they got there too- but the "curtain fic, pregnancy fic, baby fic, kid fic, fic where they go to parent teacher conferences and..." that you mentioned? I've always loved it.
I suspect for me it's a psychological thing because seeing two adult women (glee and such has never had much appeal for me even as a teenager) going about their daily business while in love has always held appeal. They get to be *happy* and there's not a lot of that for lesbians in the media.
I really can't read slash or het, even though I used to be able to, so there is a unique kind of joy that comes from women loving other women.
