She could wake him up.
They’ll argue, maybe they’ll have sex. Then she’ll leave him there, awake and hurting, because of her.
He looks so peaceful. Untroubled.
She could go. He’d never know she was there.
She stays, curled against him on top of the covers. Watches him sleep.
The world and its problems can wait. Just for a little while longer.
