A few years ago I spent my birthday sitting alone on a bench on the South Bank of the Thames, outside of the Tate Modern. I sketched and scribbled notes and thought about how sometimes it's better to be by yourself. Well, I can't claim to have that same thought now, but in two weeks' time I'll be on my way to London alone to sit outside the same
