Erm, I've personally not heard of Aer Lingus before. What I'd suggest is also maybe looking at the prices available with German Wings. They fly from London-Stansted.
I know Ryan Air also suggests being at the airport with 2h in advance, but experience has taught me that usually leaving around 30' time for checking in is quite enough (with the internet bookings). That might differ between companies though.
Aer Lingus is anothe Irish Airline. They're supposed to be better than Ryan air, service wise but more at the price of Easy Jet (still flights under £100 usually, but not as dirt cheap as Ryan Air). I checked German Wings, and I'll double check at home again but I'm pretty sure Aer Lingus is significantly cheaper. I can however get flights on German Wings from East Midlands airport or Birmingham to Amsterdam in April/May for £0.00 + taxes = £19.98, so thanks for the site anyway!
