Selling His Six Year-Old Logic

AN: Here's my not so comedic, comedy for the mini contest. My word was 'selling' which can mean  'to exchange something of value for something else', which is what sort of happens here. Enjoy! :)

“I’ll trade you these Jolly Ranchers for your pack of Skittles,” Sam said to his best friend, Matthew, holding out the two pieces of candy.

He looked at them for a moment before shaking his head. “No, I think I’ll keep my Skittles.”

“But Mattie, these are the green Jolly Ranchers. They’re your favorite kind. You don’t even like Skittles.”

Matthew stuck his tongue out at him. “You’re just jealous because I have more candy,” he said, quite content with the idea of outdoing Sam for once.

Sam was silent for a second. Then, an idea came to his mind. He put on his widest grin and said, “No you don’t.”

His friend frowned. “Yes I do.”

Sam shook his head. “Teacher said that two is always more than one. I have two Jolly Ranchers, you only have one pack of Skittles.”

Matthew looked at his Skittles then at the candy in Sam’s hand, trying to understand this logic. “But-”

“Actually, never mind, you can keep your Skittles,” Sam said happily, turning back towards the playground. “I’ll just keep these two, green Jolly Ranchers all to myself.”

Sam had only walked a few steps when Matthew ran after him, yelling, “Wait! I changed my mind, you can have the Skittles.”
Before Matthew could take back what he said, he turned around, and shoved the Jolly Ranchers in his friend’s hand as he grabbed the Skittles. “Thanks, buddy,” he said sweetly.

“You’re welcome,” Matthew replied, looking a little confused as he walked back to his table.

Sam smiled as he opened the pack of Skittles. It worked like a charm.
