I'm probably a terrible person to answer this, because I do tend to keep everything, especially my own stuff! But art is personal. Your friend made it for you, so giving it back would put your friend in a place where they would either sell it or trash it, because it wouldn't mean the same thing to them. If it has meaning for you, keep it. If it doesn't trash it. Some pieces will probably mean more than others. Just remember a few years down the road, they won't be as painful to look at, but you might regret throwing away something special.
I'd definitely try to return it before I'd throw it away - depending on how bad your falling-out was, anyway, as returning it might be taken the wrong way if it just happens out of the blue. If you're still on speaking terms, mentioning it to your former friend may be an idea. Otherwise, you could perhaps put it up for sale somewhere.
If all that doesn't work out and you're definitely faced with the choice of keeping it vs. throwing it away... just do what you feel is right. And if you want to throw it away but can't bring yourself to do it, maybe scan it? That way, it'd not be entirely lost, but you could rid yourself of the physical objects.
