Chilly early Saturday morning, family time with the cats (combing session) laundry churning downstairs, sun slowly melting fog away, reading all over the net and finishing Ann Patchett's State of Wonder. I have 2 more novels waiting for me, and fingers crossed, am hoping my first newly renewed New Yorker arrives today ( Read more... )

Okay cat lover, can you explain why Max won't eat from his dish if he can see the bottom, even though there's plenty of food in it? He drags me to his bowl meowing and bitching until I cover the porcelain. Sometimes it only takes a shake, no food added, but he's happy.

Dear Cat Lover,

When you say 'drag' does Max actually sink his teeth in your shorts hem and pull you towards the dish?

I just love him. He is a good human trainer.

Was he a rescue cat? Maybe he still has hunger issues. Or by now it's a game for him, he gets your attention, you shake the bag (oh the adorableness of it all), pretend to grumble and he is happy.

I haven't had a cat do that, my current cats are portion controlled and fed twice a day, because one of them is more dog-like and will eat everything until bowls are empty.

Yes, we rescued Max, but he was only 4 months old. He parks near the laundry room and when we walk by he meows, meows and meows while leading us to his bowl. If you don't follow he gets louder. So I add a little food, shake the dish to cover the bottom, and he digs in.

He loves attention, to be waited on, like he's the king. Every morning we give him about a teaspoon of canned tuna. He leaps on the bar above our kitchen sink and eager watches you serve his treat.

Good reading makes life that much more interesting. I'm finishing Robert K. Massie's "Catherine the Great". I'm not much for history, but her life was so drama-filled that it reads more like a novel than a history lesson.

What is this about a baggage mudslide? Is someone paving their own way out of your life?

Any book that transports you is pretty cool. I spent the last week in the Amazon jungle with Ann Patchett, now it looks like I'll be Italy, Jerusalem and Miami while reading Necropolis.

I love that!

Yes, it seems so. I'm kind of worn down. Need to find myself again as solo person. I think I was doing pretty good as a couple, but oh well. We're communicating but I don't want to see him for a yet to be determined amount of time. Blerg.

By all means, take whatever time you need away from him. If you decide to see him again, well. If you decide not to see him again, well. I know you'll decide based on what you discover you need.

Namaste, my friend. It's great to read a post from you, again.
