Grace's CSI Dream

Oct 09, 2007 18:16

THis took me all day to get typed out, and all I have to say is WOW!

ok, had a very odd, but very good dream. *grins* It ended up being a CSI dream with Grace in it. Odd, I know, but very cool. It really had the feel of an actual episode, so enjoy reading my dream.

So it started off like you are watching an episode of CSI (the original).
There is a group of people (12) at a lodge in a National Park. They are up drinking
and having fun one night when the whole thing turns into a bad horror movie. (I will
leave out the details, cause eww!)

Next thing I know, I am riding in a SUV with Grissom. I am not me. I am
Grace! (And I am tall and have Brown hair, weird). We are talking about Sara and her
instability. How they have grown apart. How he has tried to end things, but she
can't let go. How happy he is to have "an old friend in town."

Scene cuts to being at the lodge. like I said, it is gross. I get the
impression that I am in town from Seattle. Apparently I work as a CSI/medical
examiner there. I was in town visiting Grissom when he got the call, and I knew (due
to conversations with him) that they were short handed, so I offered to go along and
help. I also wanted to watch Gil work, since he is one of the best.

We are working on the case, processing the scene. Gil and I are working
together. Sara keeps coming over, talking to him, glaring at me. She is not really
processing her part of things. I tell Gil that I can leave if that means his team
will quit freaking out. He says "I need you here. Don't go, I'll talk with Sara and
the rest."

Scene cuts to Officers searching to woods around the lodge. The killer is
watching them from somewhere either they can't see, or haven't gotten to yet. It is
still dark outside. Eventually the officers move away from the area, and the killer
moves on.

Meanwhile, back at the lodge, we are still processing the scene. 12 bodies
take a long time. Doc Robbins has shown up along with David. He finds out that I
tend to work more for the ME's office and snags me, cause well, damn! That is a lot
of work. We need to set up a make shift morgue until the appropriate vehicles can be
gotten here, and Doc is not sure when that will be. It has started to Snow... lots.

We go over the grand lodge, about a quarter of a mile away. Doc, David
and I take over there kitchen, or should I say, their industrial fridges and
freezers. Then we set up a make shift autopsy room. Not that we want to do
autopsy's here, but the prelim stuff needs to be done ASAP. We start getting bodies
as the CSI's release them from the scene. I look at the clock, it is almost 7am. We
are all beat and the bodies are checked in and stored. Time for some sleep.

At this point we are snowed in. We take over one of the other lodges. IT
is kind of dark, that dawn and cloudy dark. The snow is still coming down, but it is
slowing down. It is that quiet snow, the one where the whole world seems to slow
down and become still. IT is a nice change after what I have seen tonight.

Sara is pacing outside the lodge. I walk up, exhausted and hoping there is a
warm bed in my future. *sigh* I guess not.

Sara pulls me aside. "why are you here?" she asks.

"I was in town Visiting Gil. We are old friends." I take out my badge and
credentials to show her. "He told me how short staffed things have been the last few
weeks, so when this came up, I offered to help." I know I was giving her a look, but
I didn't seem to care what she thought of me. Sara looks at me, not happy with my
answer. "You should go." she says, and she walks away, in the direction of the
Grand Lodge.

I wander into the lodge, hoping there is a bed. I am lucky. Someone was
kind enough to put post it notes on the doors of the room, assigning us spots. I am
across the hall from Gil. Sara is next door to him. I knock on his door, no answer.
HE must still be at the scene. I go into my room and dig through my bags. I need a
shower and sleep. I find a pair of PJ's and head for the shower. After the hot
water clears away the events of the night; I wander back into the bedroom. I turn on
the TV to the weather channel and try to fall asleep.

Scene changes. Sara is walking through the woods, snow falling around her.
For the first time in a while, she looks beautiful. The snow is on her hair and
shoulders. She looks like she is trying to come to terms with something. The music
changes (yes there is music!), turning menacing. We hear footsteps and breathing,
like we are seeing her from someone else's eyes. We get closer. She doesn't have
time to scream. One moment she is walking, the next she is on the ground, she blood
staining the pristine white snow around her.

Scene changes. I am tossing and turning in the lodge. I think that I drift
off for a moment, then I hear the door to my room open. I turn over. It is Gil. He
looks exhausted. HE is carrying a bag and a towel. He has blood on his clothes (not
surprising given the scene.). He stops when he sees me turn over.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you." He points over his shoulder, "The
shower in my room isn't working; I thought I might be able to borrow yours." He
looks a little embarrassed.

I look at him, "Sure, and you didn't wake me, I can't sleep." I smile at
him. He walks by, and I hold out my hand to him. He steps over for a moment, taking
my hand, running his thumb over my knuckles. His hands are freezing cold.

"Take a shower hun. If I am still up when you are done, we can talk." He
nods and lets go of my hand, walking to the bathroom. I start to drift in and out, I
hear on the TV that another band of snow is headed for us in a few hours. I hear the
shower turn off. I doze off again.

I feel the covers pull back, and Gil crawls in next to me. He tucks my head
under his chin. I feel like we have done this before. He wraps an arm around me and
kisses the top of my head. I roll over just a little bit. "Gil?"

"Yes Grace?" He seems tense.

"Are you ok?" I roll over just a little, so that I can see his face. He
looks troubled, and he sighs.

"Scenes like that are difficult to process, both from a scientific stand
point and an emotional one." He looks at me, waiting for the comment he knows is
coming. I roll all the way over, so that I am facing him.

"What? Has this scene actually gotten to you Gilbert? Are you going to tell
me that somewhere in there is more than a scientist?" Sarcasm is dripping in my
tone. I reach a hand up and press it to his cheek, smiling at him. He looks at me
for a moment, a little stunned, and then remembering that it is me, he just shakes his
head.

"This is what I miss." He kisses my forehead and I roll my eyes, my hand
falling to his shoulder.

"You need to talk to Sara, Gil. She caught me outside earlier and tried to
warn me off. If there a reason that she would be warning me off?" I look up at him,
waiting for him to figure things out. He never was very good with women.

"I don't know." He looks pensive for a moment, staring off into space. Then
he looks back at me; his eyes are worried and confused. I am know that I have not
seen him this vulnerable in a long time. "Grace,...I..., I still love her. You and
I, we have a history. She can sense that. She is too good at her job not to. I am
not sure if she can leave this alone." He pauses, looking for the right words. "I'm
sorry. I should have waited longer before inviting you down." He blushes, looking
down, not wanting to meet my eyes.

"Gil? Look at me." I wait for a moment, letting his eyes meet mine. "I am
a big girl. I can take it if you think you aren't ready to end things with her. I
get it." I laugh a little and look at him. "Gil, Lord knows this is not the first
time we have been in this situation. It seems like I am always the one you call in
to pick up the pieces. Sara, then Heather, now Sara again. One day, you will be
ready to move on. When that day comes, call me. For now, let's get some sleep. It
has been a long night."

He looks sad, but relieved as he sits up on an elbow and looks down on me.
"I don't know how you do that Grace."

"Do what?"

"Make it ok." He pulls the covers back, and gets up, then tucks me in.

"It is my super power I guess." I say yawning. Gil bends over and kisses my
forehead.

"Get some sleep Grace. Tomorrow will be a long day." With that he turns and
leaves the room, quietly shutting the door."

Scene Changes. The camera pans over the trees as daylight gets brighter.
The wind has picked up again, and the snow is coming down harder. The camera dips
below the branches so that you can see the forest floor. Snow swirls around and you
see as foot steps are covered in by the snow. As the camera continues to move across
the snow, a person shaped lump raises out of the snow. As the camera pans over it,
you can see Sara's face, eyes clouded and lifeless, being covered over with blowing
snow.

Scene changes. I am in the make shift morgue, Helping Doc Robbins. Bodies
are everywhere. We are snowed in, so Doc is starting Autopsies now. It is 1pm. 5
hours of sleep. Enough, but only just. I knocked on Gil's door before I came in,
but he was either up and gone, or still asleep. I have my music playing loudly in
the background; One of the Chopin waltzes. As I walk out of the "morgue" to find a
cup of coffee, I almost run right into Grissom. I manage to dance around him, but he
grabs my hands, taking this as an opportunity to dance with me. He twirls me around.

"Sleep well?" he asks.

"Not really. But you knew that." I say quietly. Gil knows I don't sleep
well alone in strange places. I smirk at him.

"Sorry to hear that. May I have this dance?"

"Seems as if you already have it, Sir." I laugh at him, enjoying a rare
instance of him being playful. However, no one else is around, so for him, it is
safe. We dance around the foyer for a few moments, Hands holding on to each other for
all we are worth. We are smiling, not thinking about what we are really there for.

The front door of the Grand lodge opens and in walks Catherine. She takes
stock of what she sees; Grissom dancing with a woman that she is not familiar with, a
woman who is not Sara. You can tell she is not happy with the sight that is before
her. "Where is Sara?" she asks Grissom in a demanding tone.

"I would guess that she is in her room sleeping. Why?" Grissom tenses and
drops my hands, moving towards Catherine.

"I tried her room, if she is asleep, she is not answering. Catherine's tone
was condemning. I looked to Gil, hoping that he could explain.

"I'm sure that she is just in the Shower." I hear myself say. I look
between Gil and Catherine. They look at me, as if looking through me. Then there is
yelling. Another body has been found. We start running. I grab my kit on the way
out the door. In the woods, between Lodge 12 and 7 there is a lump covered in Snow.
As we get closer someone starts yelling for Gil.

Grissom runs past me, and see who it is. He sees that it is Sara. He slides
to his knees, wanting to go to her, to cradle her, but he knows he can't. He knows
that he will contaminate the evidence. His face is a mask of pain, tears are running
down his face. I want to comfort him, but I am the only one with my camera. This
has to be done right. It has to be.

David runs past us and stops short. Everyone can tell that she is dead.
David walks up slowly and drops to one knee, putting on a pair of gloves. I walk
forward and being taking pictures before David moves her. David slowly moves the
snow away from her face and neck. You can see the blood, see that her throat was
slashed. He turns her head, and then you can tell how deep the wound is. David
pronounces her. I step back, allowing one of the other CSI's to process the body.

I walk over to Gil and drop to my knees. I put my hands on his shoulders and
wait. I know it will come. I was there when he found that little girl, so many
years ago. I was there when his mom passed away. I know it will come. I just know.
A few minutes later, after David has walked away, to go tell Doc Robbins. After
Catherine has focused herself on processing. After the rest have backed away,
he finally allows himself to see, to really see. I cradle his head on my shoulder
and run my hand over his hair, telling him that everything will be ok.

Scene Changes. We are back in Vegas. We are sitting in Gil's living room,
eating dinner and talking. It is maybe a week later. They haven't found the person
who killed the kids in the Mountains, or who killed Sara. Gil is on leave, until he
is cleared to return. We have spent time being quiet. Talking over work, science,
religion, politics, whatever is interesting. Anything but Sara. He is still
processing the scene in his mind. I know this.

There is a knock at the door. Gil answers, it is Jim Brass. He
looks...unhappy. He has a few officers with him. Jim looks at Gil. "Gil, I need
you to come down to the station with me. Eckley wants to ask you some questions."

"Jim? What is going on?" Grissom is unsure, confused at what he is hearing.

"Gil, please, let’s just make this easy. Come with me. I am sure Eckley will
have you out of there in short order." Jim looks uneasy.

I look at Gil, unsure of what is going on, but knowing this needs to go
smoothly. I walk over to him. "I'll come with you. It will be fine. Probably just
wanting to talk to those who were close to her. wanting to rule out everything. You
know how this goes. It will be fine." I lean in closer, "You know Eckley is an ass,
he would have made Jim bring the boys with, just go with it, please."

Grissom looks down at me, not happy, but understanding. He nods and walks
over to Brass. "Ok, let's get this over with, shall we?"

And that ladies and gentlemen is when my husband rolled over and elbowed me
full force in the boob. *grr* Maybe if I am luck the dream will finish tonight.
Please comment and let me know what you think.
