Recommendations?

I realized that I need more uptempo pieces in my audition repertoire. I am looking for something that is not too long, and is fast and lively. I would call myself a lyric soprano. Just to give you a better idea of my voice type, here are some things I have been working on recently ( Read more... )

Heidenröslein by Schubert is an excellent piece. It's is very sweet and light; and when it's done quickly, it's a treat to sing. I think the whole piece is less than two minutes.

I've actually sung that before, a few years ago. It is a fun piece. However, art songs don't really fly at professional opera auditions. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Old Maid and the Thief is an interesting suggestion. I've shied away from this for two reasons: It's also kind of slow, aside from the recit.

That Stravinsky piece is intriguing- I fear it might be too long, but it's an exciting prospect. I'm actually not in school and have been doing company auditions for a while. They seem to cut you off if you go over 2 minutes! Eh, but maybe that's just life.
