a brief question:

So, for January, I have decided to make it a point to work at least 30 hours a week. I'm on my way to clocking in 11 hours just for this week (7 hours yesterday, 3 today), and I'm burned out. I'm wondering if I should limit myself to just the six hours per day, or if I should go over. In theory, going over is better (more productive) but I find ( Read more... )

I have this thing! Called Pomodori. It's just a simple timer that runs for 25 minutes and then gives you a break so you can play your Spider Solitaire for five minutes before going back to work for another 25 minutes. What's nice is that it times your breaks as well, and counts your blocks of productivity.

Only worked for me during thesis crunchtime, tbh, and not so much when I'm working from home -- where there is a bed and my books.

Mwuh.

Yay I used to do that for school also and then it stopped working D:

Anyway, the answer to my question was that I took a break.

I would say don't force the 30 hours thing. If you make it to 30, that's awesome! If you don't, that's fine too! You don't want to be burnt out or end up with work you're unsatisfied with just because you forced yourself to keep going.
Or maybe you could use the breaks or solitaire games as a reward for finishing something of completing a goal? Just some ideas.

I'm a terrible procrastinator, personally, and can usually only get myself to work on something when I'm in just the right mood or when I have to have it done in like 3 hours. I wish i could find something to get me to work on stuff :\ My new semester starts tomorrow and I've got 3 art classes, so hopefully I can get my ass in gear! Good luck to you, dear lady!

That's true, I still want to be able to stay on top of things, though, you know? Thanks, Dani! Good luck to you as well!

I've been full-time freelancing (graphic design, art and writing) for almost a year now but I never got the hang of disciplined work hours!

Have you ever taken the enneagram test? :) I find myself acting like this all the time and (don't know if this is an excuse or not) but I realized it's a part of my personality to...well, be responsible and then feel depressed about it. Haha. Yeah, I hate this problem, and I know it's mostly a self-motivation thing, but why must it be so hard.
