Marshall Flinkman Relationships

Marshall Flinkman Shipper Discussion
When we met Marshall in Season One it was hard to believe any woman would find him sexy. Cute? Sure. Bright and funny? Hell yes! But not sexy, right?
Marshall was just one of those characters who you got to love more and more each week and even though he was originally only involved in mission briefings he soon got his own kind of character development and the “ships” began to sail.
Here is a brief look at the women (and man) in his life.
SYDNEY
The first obvious crush we saw Marshall have was on Sydney. What man wouldn’t be attracted to a pretty, ass kicking, super sexy spy? He got to make her all kinds of gadgets from lipsticks to glasses and set her in all kinds of roles and costumes, in some ways she became his doll. In Cipher (S2) he told her “If you're stuck in the ducts when the rocket launches, then, well, boom. And I'd miss you”. But later he was even more confident in his comments saying in APO Part 1 (S4) “Ok Phoenix, you're hot. And I mean that in many ways.”
But Marshall showed a much deeper affection for Sydney and shared the desire to protect her with many of characters. Indeed when Sydney went to his rescue in A Higher Echelon (S2) we saw the pure joy from Marshall when it was his built in parachute which saved them both. “My name is Marshall J. Flinkman and I'm here to rescue you!”
When he spanked Syd’s ass in Nemesis I almost laughed myself to death:
“Oh, you talkin’ to me? Well, thank you very much. I am lucky…I’m lucky to be born in Texas… and I’m rich enough that a woman this beautiful is willin’ to share my bed! Gawd!” *spank*
The pair are just terrific together on missions. And his moment of glory was saving Sydney from being buried alive in Tuesday (S4) when he gave her the kiss of life. Not their first kiss of course, Sydney having kissed him on their first ever mission together in The Abduction (S1).
Of course, Marshall knew Syd was not for him and the pair settled into an almost sibling relationship. When he invited her in for dinner at the end of Tuesday they appeared sad that they could not socialise more outside of work having developed a shared love for one another.
CARRIE
The first time we saw a woman interested in Marshall was in Season Two not long after he started work for the real CIA. Carrie worked for the NSA and was helping out at the CIA when she took a shine to Marshall and his genius and the pair went out for sushi. Marshall suggested to Kendall / Jack that Carrie help out with his investigation and so the pair worked together, each impressed with the other’s intelligence.
After Sydney’s two missing years we learned Carrie and Marshall were still together and that Carrie wes pregnant. In The Nemesis (S3) we saw Marshall’s intention for Carrie as he played his proposal song to Vaughn on his drum kit. GET WORDS!!
By the middle of Season Three a heavily pregnant Carrie finally caved in to Marshall’s plea for her to marry him when she went into labour. During Sydney and Vaughn’s mission to Chamonix, Weiss became “Exalted minister of the Internet Church of Mammals” and married Marshall and Carrie in Marshalls’ office. It was a comical ceremony which ended with Carrie leaving to go to the hospital and the exchange:
MARSHALL: “I love you Mrs. Flinkman.”
CARRIE: “I'm keeping my name!”
When Marshall was taken on by APO he had to keep his job a secret from his wife but his love for her and his son was always apparent. And finally in Season 5 we saw Carrie back in the picture coming to the rescue at APO and proving she knew her husband well and matching his genius. A more perfect match was surely never made and if Mitchell isn’t a member of MENSA then I’ll eat my shorts!!
SARK
Slash couples were always discussed on Alias and surely none could be cuter than the thought of Marshall and Sark having eggs together. *insert fan girl squeeeee here*
TONI CUMMINGS
Marshall had to visit Toni Cummings in CIA custody during Legacy (S3) and this finally brought a super, sexy woman who wanted Marshall for herself. Marshall had to visit Toni in her cell and get information from her but he instead found himself receiving a job offer from the flirtatious criminal.
TONI: “I want you….”
MARSHALL: *shocked* “Come again.”
TONI: “To work for me!”
Marshall’s reaction was priceless, if she had been naked I doubt he could have been any more nervous!!!! *giggle* Amazing chemistry!
RACHEL
Two brains, one mission! As with Carrie we saw Marshall meet a woman who could match his genius and though we never saw any romantic connection, Marshall (a happily married man) showed a huge level of respect for Rachel.
When Rachel was first captured by APO Marshall really bonded with her and as they swapped hacker tales it was fairly obvious he was very impressed with Rachel. Once established within APO they formed quite the technical support within APO, working together on many missions.
NADIA
Never really a ship I know but as I was reminded Weiss teased him because he already had a wife when Nadia was all smiles with him - so cute!
LAUREN
Ok, I am pushing it now but he did say to Vaughn in Hourglass (S3):
“If you had to fall in love with someone evil, I can see why it'd be her.” *grin*
SUMMARY
So for a cute and brainy guy he has had his share of the ships. Loved by many and wanted by quite a few, Marshall only truly had eyes for one woman - his wife Carrie. A devoted husband and father, Marshall J Flinkman will surely live happily ever after now Alias is over.
