2x06 "Salvation"
(aka the one with the grasshopper, the virus and the Kim Richey song)
Sydney and Vaughn are on a rooftop, all dressed up in Bond-esque suits, spy sunglasses included. Syd is worried about her mother's trial and kinda sad about the fact that her dad set her up. Not exactly your average dysfunctional family, eh?
So, Emo!Syd asks Vaughn to tell her a joke 'cause she could really use one. Vaughn tells her the old grasshopper joke. In case you're a Martian or something and you don't know it, here's how it goes: "A grasshopper walks into a bar and the bartender says: Hey, we've got a drink named after you! The grasshopper looks at him and says: You have a drink named Doug?". Well, Vaughn was gonna say Phil but you gotta agree with Syd that Doug is way funnier than Phil. Anyway, our spies in their serious spy suits actually laugh which makes this the cutest opening ever.
Back at SD-6, Sloane's rambling about a new bio-terrorism threat associated with Sark, which Marshall explains as an Ebola-like virus. Sloane asks Jack and Syd to go to a hospital in Vienna posing as father and daughter (shocker!) and get a blood sample from one of the virus victims.
Afterwards, Jack tries to talk to Syd and explain why he set Irina up, but Spy!Daughter is still pissed off at Spy!Daddy and cuts him off. Later on, Spy!Daughter decides to write a letter to Devlin and explain how Spy!Daddy is responsible for framing Spy!Mommy.
A few hours later, Syd and Vaughn watch opening of Irina's trial, discovering that Irina plead guilty and will be sentenced to lethal injection. Oy.
From CIA to Francie's restaurant. Syd tells Will about her mom and he's being all supportive, while Francie the Clueless is preparing for health inspector's visit. Suddenly, a Hamburger!Guy who works at the restaurant appears and Will takes off, a bit jealous that a hamburger is making more than he is.
Meanwhile, Vaughn talks to Devlin about the KGB IQ tests and Devlin's all "WTF, who cares, KGB doesn't exist anymore".
Will 'desperate for a job' Tippin and Michael 'my boss doesn't listen to me' Vaughn meet and Vaughn hires Will to do research on the KGB IQ tests. Will has a job. Will happy. Will love Vaughn long time.
On a plane to Vienna, Jack gives Syd the letter that she had sent to Devlin. Syd's still not loving her Spy!Daddy and gives him an evil glare.
Jack and Syd go on their mission, Syd wearing a bright blond wig and Jack wearing a hideous red tie, pretending that Daddy needs a kidney transplant and that Daughter is providing the donation. While the doctors and nurses prep Jack and Syd, Jack releases anesthesia on the staff. Jack downloads hospital info about the virus onto a disc, while Sydney gets a blood sample from a patient. The patient mistakes her for Irina. A lot of fighting, shooting and stuff exploding, Jack and Syd manage to escape in a plane. Later, Jack explains that the data shows that Irina exposed these men who worked for her to the virus before she turned herself in. Oh my, that Spy!Mommy is a piece of work, huh?
Sloane is worried that Emily might be alive which would threaten his membership in the Alliance. Jack pretends to be interested and almost changes his expression.
Vaughn tells Syd he hired Will, which she appreciates.
Sloane and Jack are on the street for an unknown reason when they spot an Emily look-like. Sloane runs after her while Jack thinks Arvin has finally lost it. Sloane ends up in a church (and doesn't set on fire!) and begins to think he's indeed losing his mind. Jack suggests digging up Emily's coffin to make sure she's dead.
Spy!Daughter, still mad at Spy!Daddy, goes to Devlin to tell him about Jack framing Irina. Devlin's all "um, yeah, what else is new, Jack told me that an hour ago" and sends her to a doctor since she might have been exposed to a deadly virus.
The doctor explains that Syd and Vaughn might have been exposed to the virus due to the Red Ball from the s1 finale. They keep the Spy Duo for observation. The Spy Duo hugs.
Morning. Vaughn watches as Syd wakes up. Apparently she talks in her sleep. At one point she said "Don't frost the pie!" like it was really important. They both smile as Kim Richey plays in the background. Syd wants to tell him something, but The Doctor arrives and says Syd's ok but they need to keep Vaughn for a while longer. He also adds that the first sign of infection was hemorrhaging from the fingernails. Vaughn insists that he'll be ok and Syd leaves. Vaughn is left alone with Kim Richey.
...dream of a place called home...(oops, how did that get in here?)
Later, Syd watches Jack's trial. Jack confesses setting Irina up, but says he's only done it to protect Syd. For the first time, Sydney hears her dad saying he loves her. *tear*
That night, Syd's at a bar when Vaughn calls her. He's also at the bar but ya know, calling is simpler. Ah, spies and their ways. Anyway, Vaughn seems to be alright but Jack is going to prison and Irina will be executed anyway. Hey now!
Syd does what she does best. She goes to Washington to kick the Senator's ass. Or rather, she explains that there is a senator on the SD-6 payroll and that she'll turn the info to the FBI unless they release Jack and Irina. Senator buys it and Syd's pleased.
Meanwhile, Sloane opens Emily's coffin only to find... nothing. Oopsie.
Syd and Jack finally talk and she's still not too happy about him framing Mom but he promises not to do it again and all is fine. Kinda. As fine as Bristows can be. Syd drops by Irina's cell only to find her asleep.
Now we go to Vaughn's bathroom. Vaughn is shaving. You're probably thinking 'why the hell is Vaughn's shaving important', right? Well, it's important because it's a convenient moment to notice that he's hemorrhaging from the fingernails, which is the first sign of the deadly disease. OH NOES!
THE END. Thank you for reading. See you soon. :D
