Looking good so far, but this was driving me nuts.
"But Professor Xavier wasn't a victim, or survivor - he probably believed humans were capable of enough evil that they didn't need to create fictitious monsters on top of it all. Wasn't there a quote or something like that? By (insert author name)...?"
I know, I'm geek but it was bugging me and I ended up looking up the quote you mentioned.Did you mean to leave it like this or did this slip through the beta process?
Oh my god! It did slip the beta process, and I completely forgot about it! Let's just all pretend I completely planned it to be that way, and Sam tends to think in (insert phrase here) all the time because he's a weirdo like that. XD
All I actually know about the quote is that it was said on Criminal Minds by Giddeon - my sources are oh-so-fandomish.
I'm sorry it drove you nuts though! But thanks for pointing it out. :D
I've made that same mistake myself, so no worries, we're only human after all ; )
Criminal Minds, that's where I heard the quote too, but I couldn't remember the author either. However, for once my Google foo was awesome and I found it almost straight away.
If you want to edit it in here it is:
“The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary: men alone are quite capable of every wickedness”
I usually wait until the end to comment, but I just had to say how much I'm enjoying this and I love the little fannish things you've put in: Dean calling Professor X "Captain Picard", Sam imagining Dean as a male Catwoman (which I'm assuming is a shout-out to both Halle Berry's Catwoman as well as Jensen's portrayal of Ben/Alec in Dark Angel.)
Haha, thank you! I can't help the little fannish bits, simply because the amount of references in the actual show (supernatural) usually has me pulling a Cas and a "I do not understand that reference." so it seemed right to do the same to people too (*not evil*). Even if I didn't actually intend for any Dark Angel references, since I don't know much about it besides the basic, but now that you've pointed it out, it makes total sense. Go me. 8D
