I decided to cut my losses with a friendship that has caused me heartache and sadness recently. Sometimes I just have to take a hint and preserve my own energy.

And, in the name of preserving comfort zones, [both of ours] I am doing a friends list cleaning today.

I think it's a shame that you had to take me off your list just because I happen to be friends with the person in question. I always try to look at people as individuals and not lump them into groups, artificial or not.

I don't plan on taking you off my list. I hope you'll reconsider.
