What a difficult thing to have to go through... I've revisited this post multiple times today and am deeply moved by it. Thank you for sharing your experience and your memories of Whiskey -- as someone who belongs to another extraordinary cat and wouldn't know what to do without her, I empathize. *warm hugs*
Thank you for saying that - it's lovely. I had such a strong idea in my head of what kind of photo I wanted to be able to take and what kind of poem and it turned out how I'd pictured it - it's nice to hear that from a fellow cat lover :)
as someone who belongs to another extraordinary cat..."
haha... isn't that exactly how it is!
I had Whiskey for 16 years - I never thought I'd be able to cope with losing her - it's been really hard but I've got to the point now where I'm just grateful to have had her and for so long. It's turned now from something I felt I'd lost into something I feel I gained.
Thank you - so intimate, so irreplaceable and so ordinary at the same time... - that's exactly what I wanted to put into it - thanks for saying that :)
Yes, it is the strangest, and simplest things you miss sometimes. But that poem is a lovely way of remembering her - it must've been quite bitter-sweet to write, but I'm sure it has helped you also.
I'll send Tabby a message to get up off his cloud-bed for a bit and wander over to make sure Whiskey is doing OK ;)
Thank you :) Yeah - it was bitter-sweet to write - getting her things out again and taking the photo made me very tearful, but in a good way. It really did help.
And thanks re Tabby! That's so sweet - maybe Whiskey can recite one of T. S. Eliot's cat poems to him!
