(Stole this heading fromzimbra1006 because it's just so fitting)
Guess it's actually a new month, but this one isn't looking promising either.
  • I am now technically unemployed, seeing as the studio where I have been teaching art classes for about 5 years was closed down on January 30th.  My crap-tastic boss sent me an email to inform me of this fun fact while ( Read more... )

Wow...that was a pretty good response, though, considering! I wonder if the lady took it to heart. It is really sad that she would think so poorly of people she claimed were her friends.

It's true!! I find it surprising in this woman's case, because she seems quite intelligent and usually pretty friendly, but maybe the economy has gotten her thinking about ways to save money? Not sure. She can tell it to the next nanny though!

Yay! I hope so!
She'll feel bad after I quit and her kids don't like the next nanny.

It is SO unbelievable what people will say and do in the name of money.
This is why I won't nanny - In order to have your kids well taken care of, you need to dish out a lot of $, and if you have that kinda $, you really should be at home with your kids (unless you're a single parent, of course).

So frustrating.

Yeah, I think that was the bottom line. She was just trying to "get her money's worth," and apparently well-cared-for kids isn't enough. (?)

You're wise to avoid it ~ I plan to only continue doing so until I find a "good" full-time job.

That situation does really suck! I'm glad to hear you stuck to your guns about needing to give the kids attention. I hope you find something new soon.

Thanks! I'm about to call back a new lead right now, I just want to make sure I leave time for REAL job-hunting in my schedule because I certainly don't want to do this for much longer.

Argh! I'm so sorry you have to put up with that. :( That's sounding like a good reason to look for another place. :(

Aww, thanks!
I'm trying to understand where she's coming from, but I think that I won't be able to put it past me and, certainly, I am not going to be scrubbing her kitchen floor, so it's time to move on. Another friend actually mentioned that her mom has a weekly house-cleaner who makes three times what I'm being paid per hour. Crazy! If I wanted to clean houses, I'd apply for a housecleaning position and get paid more, apparently!

Yeah, I keep getting more upset when I read that conversation... I can't think of what kind of mom would be thinking about her Tupperware instead of the health and safety of her child. ...Though really she just sounds cheap.

And having a disabled child is expensive, and difficult, but that doesn't mean you can save money by neglecting the child. Argh again!
