It worked! One of my wedding planning books mentioned that if you send a wedding invitation to the White House, you receive a letter of congratulations from the President. Since we had extra, and since we actually like the current President, we did so. Today I got in the mail a little pre-printed card from the Obamas wishing us a happy marriage.
