Why is it weirding you out? I don't see anything wrong with not being Finnish and wanting to learn the language and visit Finland. If your feeling unsetlling/weird it out then you should stop dressing Lolita since your not Japanese. Hypocritical much? I think so.

Just because I am interested in a street fashion that comes from Japan, doesn't mean I want to learn Japanese or be Japanese in any way. My friend wants to learn Finnish and be Finnish. There is a clear reason why I am interested in lolita fashion, there is no clear reason why my friend wants to be Finnish. That is why I find it strange.
If my friend absolutely loved reindeer, and therefore wanted to learn Finnish, and move to Lapland and herd them, at least there would be a connection.
