RTD might have invented the Slitheen but he wrote one of the best shows of all time (Queer As Folk - UK only) and wrote Casanova. So, I will forever love him no matter what he does. I even forgive him for having anything to do with the US version of QAF.
Also, "Love & Monsters" was one of my favorite episodes along with Moffat episodes (but that is everyone and their dog's favorite) and "Planet of the Ood." Frankly, if your only bone with him is the Slitheen you are going to have to give me a lot more reason to dislike the man's writing. :)
Mind you, I, along with a few of my friends, hope that Rose's role remains as it has been thus far in the fourth season; silent. So it seems we all have our problems with the show. ;)
I found this episode fell short of what last episode was building up to. I am slightly disappointed but still love the Sontaran.
I don't dislike his writing, per se. I just find most of the episodes he writes start off with such potential and then go kind of... weird at the end. Like, sometimes in a good way, sometimes not so much!
At the same time, however, I do appreciate him for all he's done including QaF (although I've yet to see any of it) and Casanova (which I adore), and especially for bringing Doctor Who back as he's done. I just like when he lets others write episodes.
Which isn't to say he hasn't written some fabulous episodes himself; the S1 & 2 finales, for instance. I just found the Slitheen to be about the worst thing ever to happen to anything. And Love & Monsters is an episode I adore, up until the point at which the alien is actually revealed and then I'm a bit bothered because it just gets so silly at that point. But, in that case, it kind of works.
I don't know. Doctor Who is my favourite show in the world, so the fact that I complain about RTD at all is sort of strange. I just wonder why he makes the decision he makes sometimes. For

Funny how you say that people seem to love Rose when I heard there was a big backlash because Billie has been acting like an idiot IRL. "Trying to be the Britney Spears of England" has been thrown about a few times. I am also not sure about how she was received prior to "Secret Diary of a London Call Girl", but I thought the show was sub par, even for a Friday night Showcase line-up

I MISSED THE LINE ABOUT "ARE YOU MY MUMMY" BUT I WAS TALKING TO LAURA ON THE PHONE WHILE WE WATCHED IT TOGETHER SO MAYBE THAT'S WHY, AND I REFERENCED IT TO HER ANYWAY, AND OSDMFKLSDFJDSF I NEED TO REWATCH.
IT WAS LITERALLY THE BEST THING EVER. LIKE, EVER. LIKE, I THOUGHT I'D MADE IT UP IN MY BRAIN BECAUSE I WAS LITERALLY THINKING JUST A MINUTE EARLIER, "I HOPE TEN REFERENCES THAT", AND THEN HE FREAKIN' DID. KJGJSKLGJSGKLJG.
APPARENTLY A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDN'T NOTICE IT WAS ROSE!!!!!!!
