Yeah, mix of nervousness and excitement would be expected. I'm sure you'll be okay :)! I'd love to move abroad, specifically France or Japan, even if it was temporary. I'm hoping to go to Japan for at least 1 month sometime next year. Still trying to figure out when's the best time (flights are expensive o-o!). I read one of your comments below that you got a teaching position? JET? If so, that's even more amazing! So many of my friends applied and no one got in. I sometimes wonder how they choose candidates.
Ya flights are pretty expensive most of the time, except last year I flew to Japan and back for only $400 at the beginning of July so you never know! I had a long lay-over but for $400 it was definitely worth it.
It's not with JET. I did apply to JET a long time ago and got through all the stages, but there were a ton of people that year and I was shortlisted. They are super picky, and I guess they can afford to be, and they really do treat their employee a lot better than with any other programs.
But this has turned out for the best anyways I think, since with JET you are almost always situated in small rural towns and never in Tokyo! While I'd love to travel to the small towns, I don't think I would be able to survive for more than a few months!
Wow 6.9 sounds really strong, but I guess it's nothing when a city is prepared for it as oppose to those in countries that are not. I always see earthquake warnings when I watch recorded Japanese TV, they seem to happen quite frequently!
Ya one thing I don't look forward to is Tokyo Summer. I was there in July once and it was so horrible! I was eating ice-cream the entire time! Well I hope you do make it to Tokyo next year, may be we can meet up too!
How do I say... I'm very fortunate in some aspects, but it is tainted with a heartache every day. I'm trying to stay busy & not waste away, though. :)
How have you been? I'm excited for you & your move! What will you be doing there?
I heard that Harajuku no longer exists as the fashion station it once was, since they opened the street for traffic. Now they flock to another area... ahh... what is it called...
Oh no that doesn't sound too good, but at least you're staying positive, which is half the battle sometimes hey? At least you know that you still have LJ friends on here that will hear you vent! I hope eventually you'll be able to get back to your full self! :)
I've been doing okay, the sudden move will be a good change. I'll be teaching English like so many others, but it'll be fun since it's Tokyo!
Ya Harajuku definitely has changed, especially since they moved GAP closer to the Station, what a strange move. I haven't been back since so I'm excited to see what has occupied that space!
