Twice As Far
Disclaimer: Haven't had the chance to rewatch this episode so I might rant about something that I just didn't fully understand yet.
In any case, here is an episode where people are starting to do stupid things, probably in preparation for the season finale. =P
First off, it seems to be several days after the last episode based on the repetition of activities in the opening scenes. People of Alexandria are doing their normal routine, more or less.
Denise asks Daryl and Rosita's help in possibly getting medicines from an apothecary somewhere. At some point, Rosita says that she doesn't want to babysit Denise alone; they note that Denise has very little practical experience with regards to killing walkers, etc, etc. So why the hell do they keep walking ahead of her or not keeping an eye on her? She went off into that room alone. They walked on when she pointed out that she wanted to get the cooler in the car. Geez! Daryl and Rosita, your guards are scattered down on the floor! And then all three of them stop in the middle of nowhere discussing things when they could have waited to get home before they started yapping? Oh brother! *rolls eyes*
Then there's Eugene and Abraham. I am so happy with the thought that Eugene can possibly make bullets in that place. I hope he is able to do so! They're gonna need it.
However, what the hell? Why the big deal about not being able to kill the walker when you called dibs on it? I mean, fine. Abraham was kind of belittling Eugene but it's not like he didn't give him a chance at all. To survive in that world, the key is working together! No need to kill yourself trying to do things on your own. There will be lots of opportunities where you'd have no choice but to fight on your own.
And then Abraham actually leaves Eugene? Geez! It's a good thing he was captured by, again, people who didn't shoot first and asked questions later. Otherwise, there will be no Eugene anymore.
Granted, Dwight did shoot Daryl's crossbow right away and hit Denise. But like he said, he wasn't even aiming for Denise. He was aiming for Daryl, who he previously met.
Now, I have to wonder what happened after he and that girl left Daryl. Apparently, they were caught by the Saviors again after they tried to run. And D's now sporting a nice burn scar on half of his face. Is he blaming Daryl for something?
So anyway, Eugene basically saves the day and Abraham, Daryl, and Rosita manage to drive off D's group. Eugene is lucky that he wasn't hit badly by the bullet, because their doctor is dead. (Initially, my thought was: well, there's a doctor all the way in Hilltop...)
And when Daryl and Carol were burying Denise, Carol tells Daryl that he was right. About what? That he should have killed Dwight and that girl when he first met them? Maybe? I don't know.
And then Carol decides to leave? What the...? Leaving only a letter to Tobin? Explaining that she has to leave because she can't kill for them anymore? What the fudge?????
What is this? I had so much hope for Carol. I thought she, along with Morgan, are the coffee beans that will change the water. But... apparently, she does not want to be a coffee bean? She's going to run instead? Wha...?
What is it with people refusing to talk to each other? Why didn't she talk with Morgan? Why is it so hard to tell Rick that she does not want to kill anymore? Is she afraid Rick would mock her, reject her, look at her funny like he does Morgan? Come on! Everybody else hates Morgan more than they'll ever hate you. If Morgan can stand there and tell people to their faces that he doesn't want to kill, you can, too. How I wish you took strength from that, Carol!
Anyway, pretty much the only thing in the episode that wasn't stupid (in preparation for the season finale) was Morgan answering Rick's question about his jail, and Rick not outright laughing it off.
Depressing. =\
