it's cause tv and music and movies make people think that every minute of every day should be exciting and new.

it's not, because for about 40+ hours, chances are you are working at your job while you would rather be watching sports/ dancing/ playing video games/ drinking/ having sex/ partying/ sleeping. Without flashing lights and bright colors, people's ADHD kicks in and they need the next thing to keep them busy until something else comes along.

I'll admit I do the same thing a lot of times, but I've come to the realization that there are billions of other people in the world with problems similar to mine or ten to a hundred times worse than mine, and they care about my problems about as much as I typically care about there's. Which usually isn't much.

"Hell is other people! That's a Sartre reference, I love Sartre!" he exclaimed jubilously as he ran forth admiring first a flower, then a small animal, then another fleeting obscure object of desire

("that's an antonioni reference! i love antonioni!")

this is all to say, agreed. though i would argue that at least some of those folks have some sort of metaphysical beliefs underlying that action that actually does tie meaning and purpose into what can seemingly be the most random of acts... or to say that randomness and meaningless of such acts may actually have a role in supporting the organized and rational meaning of one's life (to one's self).

Hey, why don't you go be Jesus?

(I don't understand your psychobabble but I'm sure it's profound... haha. I know who Sartre is though.)

Oh, and sorry about the Predators.

eh, they deserved it. played like pansies because they missed vokoun, but without the psychological factors i'm sure they would've played fine without him.

(well maybe not. there was no defense the whole series.)

I wish I could add something constructive, but that series was far and away the one I saw the least; only 1-2 games were on when I was home and they were both on nights when I felt like reading.

this is all well and good, but it is based on the fact that there is a meaning to life. even if there is this great underlying meaning, i doubt God would exclude from it having fun as much as possible; most people have given up on the fire and brimstone version of the common deity. or if God isn't your cup-of-tea, then you must think that we are all just here because of purely scientific reasons (big bang, evolution, etc.), in which case, the meaning of our lives would simply be procreation, and we could do whatever the hell we wanted after that ( ... )

I didn't intend for this to have any meaning as saying that people with jobs and intelligence and money and whatever else it is that you said have done things the right way, and those who don't have those things have done things the wrong way ( ... )
