Chris and I just got back from spending the long weekend in Houston. About a year ago, I won a voucher in a raffle for $750 off a "Last Minute Deal" on Travelocity. Nice. I like Hotel Derek. We used to play at Sullivan's right next door.

Emee won two nights at a resort/spa in Ojai, CA (down near LA). We were going to fly down for a weekend, but I'm like "That's $500 for 1 day, 2 nights in a fancy hotel. We can do that here without the flight hassle!" So we're going to stretch it into a week. Know any good places to hang out in Ventura or Santa Barbara?

Unfortunately, no. Are you familiar with Yelp.com, though? I like the folks who do a lot of the reviews in Austin, and there appears to be a pretty good review base in those areas on there.

I think I had a drink at the Hotel Derek once when we went to a wedding in Houston... there were a lot of swankly dressed African American people there, which I remember because you don't see that much in Austin. In DC, you do..

Glad you had a nice time, and hopefully you'll make it to DC, maybe when the weather is nice. I hear it will be nice this weekend, fINALLY!
