We've been going hard every day, and I'm starting to get too tired to blog much. Hopefully, these photos will say a few words on my behalf.

This is my brother giving the keynote speech at a storage conference. Our family weaseled our way in and I snuck up to the front row and took about a billion photos of him. I'm so proud of him!

One thing I have found particularly interesting about Beijing is the very dramatic class differences that exist side-by-side throughout the city. My brother lives in a high-rise that caters to ex-pats which is, by all standards, extremely high-end (his three-bedroom apartment costs his company a horrifying $3000 US/month). We spent our third day in Beijing at the Temple of Heaven. Ming and Qing dynasty emperors used this Temple to perform rites for the entire nation. This is a photo of my parents standing in front of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, which was constructed without a single nail!

Day Two of our Beijing trip has drawn to a close...sort of...the day so exhausted me that I fell asleep right after we returned and snacked (around 5:30 pm), then I woke up just long enough to eat "dinner," (9:30 pm), then promptly fell back asleep. It's official - we're in Beijing! We got here about four hours ago. The travel was a bit grueling - we left the house at 7:30 am (thanks, Zhenya!) and arrived at 8:30 am the next day (both CST) - so, 25 hours of travelling. The flight from Dallas to Tokyo was particularly brutal, made worse by the lame airplane food and the horrible in-flight ( Read more... )

Did not wash my hair
Did not put on my contact lenses
Did not leave the house
Did not exercise
Did not put on makeup
Did not get dressed
Did not make it to the Easter party

Sometimes, you just have to have a day of "did nots."
