"no sick days, at all. only personal days which require 48 hour notice. we are no longer allowed, under any circumstance to call in and say "i won't be in today" without getting an occurence."

i'm pretty sure that's illegal. the overtime only happening around holidays and you not getting paid for it is suspicious too. you should talk to a lawyer for free and see what they say. who knows, maybe you'll win some huge lawsuit against macys. i know a paralegal, i could talk to her about it.

florida is a "right to work" state... so they can fire you without a reason anyway. as for not having sick days, :.. nothing in the law requires an employer to EVER allow a sick day, vacation day, or any other leave. Sick days are considered a benefit provided at the discretion of the employer" " Beyond that however, the employer may require you to work 365 days a year if they so desire. It would be stupid, but it would be legal."

but they have FLMA (family leave and medical act) in case a relative gets sick and you have to take car of them for 10 weeks. or if you have a serious medical condition.
but if you're just sick for like, one or two days and you gte fired for it, it is legal.

i'm not saying they have to have "sick days" i'm saying that giving you an "occurance" for calling in sick.. can't be legal. though, i guess they could force you to have a doctor's note every time you have the flu or whatever.

This is the second time I've read this in two months. It affected at least one conversation in that time.
