Hey, don't be ashamed of the entire gender, be ashamed of the creeps who give it a bad name.

Yep, you're right. It's just...Obama gets elected, and that is a big step forward. Then I'm reminded of how much farther we still have to go.

No matter how many steps we take forward, I think there will always be a lot of idiots around.

What we have to work out is, how to stop them achieving positions of power.

Exactly. Feels like that episode of Yes, Minister about promoting women in politics that we watched a few weeks ago. Has over 20 years made that little difference?

Yes. It's really quite sad. Just ask SB!

Cuz yeah, women with jobs shouldn't also have families. Men are allowed to have both, but women have to choose one or the other.

Sadly, this is an idea I run into all the time! Often by people who don't seem to even be thinking about what exactly they're saying here (a lot of WOMEN, even).

That's just it. I wonder how many of these people even realize how stupid they sound or how bigoted they are.

The thing is, I don't think they do! Like, I think if you pointed it out to them, they'd be shocked. It's just an ingrained part of our culture that most people haven't thought through.

Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
