I'm booking my tickets tomorrow for my USA/Mexico Trip. I could've done with the NZ$ not slipping below US$0.50 this week, but shit happens
( Read more... )
Oh no! I don't know, that's the weekend I'm suppose to go to Vegas to see britney spears with wcl. I haven't bought tickets yet so at a minimum I should be able to be here part of the time but OH NOS!
er, in reference to the NYC dates, and your comment to me.
Oh novus! I don't arrive into New York until 4pm on the Friday either - and I leave for DC at 9am on the Monday. I think you should talk to Britney's people and get her to reschedule to New York so both of you are convenient for me.
We have a wee girl with anorexia in at the moment and she made me think of you. I just feel so out of my element with it all. A broken leg? Okay! Asthma? No problem! DKA? Sure! Anorexia? ... um.
She's only twelve and she's barely 20kg and it all just makes me so sad.
Damn. That's the second reference that people have thought of me in connection to Anorexia. Is she in for stabilization? You might want to watch her carefully for incidental exercise (i.e. clenching her legs, standing, walking up and down the hallway) and for any sneaky getting rid of bolus feeds. Oooo and watch for any weird cognitions like thinking that water is calorific. And if she is being mouth fed, don't let her leave your site for at least an hour - plus watch for weird smells coming from random places... Are they transferring her to the Child Unit? Oh shit - that's us for the whole North Island. I thought it was Wellington cos of where you are but she's 12, so that's CFU. Poo. That's my lunchroom.
The MH Nurses Conf in Welly? Cos I'm not a nurse - but CFU is paying, so win! They aren't paying for the mexico one because it's based on my thesis... I'm going to see if they will pay for my time while I'm there though. I doubt it; I'm not clinical staff. Ugh.
Oh, yeah, no, we monitor that stuff. She used to be NG bolused but she's managing much better now. She has 20 minutes to eat, no long sleeves, tissues, that sort of thing. No going to the toilet/showering for at least half an hour after meals. Toileting/showering is supervised. No exercise allowed. Soon she might be allowed a walk out to the gardens twice a day. Pretty much everything is supervised. Normally she'd have someone special her from MH but it's been a week and today they finally said right out they're not going to send anyone up for her - it's not their area of practice! Bollocks. She will be transferred but I'm not sure where to, she's improving though so that's really heartening to see
( ... )
Ah good - I was reading a file at CFU for one of my research projects, and the hospital (Hamilton?) wasn't watching her, so she went down - then came to us for four months.
Yeah, I'm not surprised that they won't special her - hey are not the most liked clients in service. Difficult to manage and they (can) make you look more closely at your own cognitions around eating disorders/eating/your weight. If they are going to move her, it will prob be to us (stupid Child unit for NI) or to Westmead in Sydney. If she starts going that way - jump on her case and you might just get a free trip to Sydney. Or at least to Dunedin where there is a private clinic (Asburn).
Travel is damn expensive, which is the reason why I never go anywhere!
I have a year until I am an RN. I like school, but I also like a social life and sleep, and it gets old when school and work are the only things I ever have time for. =/

Why isn't the DHB paying for your conference?

That sucks about graduation. I would be livid. I just want the heck out of school.

Don't you have another couple of years? I thought that you were enjoying the experience?

Oh, I forgot that you are also working crazy amounts. On more year is totally worth the pain.
