I'm no help, but for me it's listening to NPR (public radio, lots of long news stories). There's always interesting stuff to hear and learn, which is a nice distraction to me.
If I'm just working out soreness or taking the equivalent of a stroll, I can read or listen to someone read or NPR or whatever, but if I really want to sweat, it has to be something with a beat (and probably a minimum BPM, though I've never worked out the actual math there). I am not particularly well versed in, er, most genres, actually, but here are a few dance (?) songs that work for me in an exercise setting
