I saw the livestream of the Benedict Cumberbatch Hamlet last night. I enjoyed his performance, and that of many of the other cast members. Cumberbatch was terrific at all the funny bits, by the way

I'm glad you contrasted this (albeit briefly) with Tennant's version. As that was the last one I saw. And you are right.. Patrick Stewart was pretty freaking awesome in it.

I like the idea of don't abandon your hobbies! Totally made me laugh.

Hamlet was once one of my most favorite plays, but as I get older I get less... enthralled by it. I find that the ideas behind Hamlet get too jumbled with Oedipus Rex (which was the first play I saw at the age of 10.) and I get angry at the men ruling over everyone, even their mothers.
