Leaving Red Lobster +The life of an Oiran

I've been really busy the past week, which is why I haven't updated in almost 2 weeks but I have some stuff I want to write about.

My last night at Red Lobster was on Saturday. It was sad saying bye to everyone and clocking out and walking out the door for the last time, but it felt good. My first job was alright but I had to get out towards the end ( Read more... )

Petals in the Water would be a great novel. I hope you do turn it into one. I'd totally read it, man.

Jobs are like that. You get attached to your co-workers and stuff. And best of luck on the diet. I'm struggling myself. When I'm stressed, like now, I eat like a hog. So it's hard.

Thanks, and I would LOVE to turn it into a novel. I mean, I guess it would be somewhat similar to Memoirs of a Geisha (except it'd be Memoirs of an Oiran) and there's a manga out called Sakuran that is about a similar story (girl sold to a brothel, becomes a legendary Oiran but wants out because, let's face it, prostition, no matter how elite, doesn't lead to a happy life). But I want to go through with it anyway. It would definitely be a lot like Sakuran, but that's how most of the women in Yoshiwara back then became courtesans, by being sold to the brothels. And I did my research and many of these women were so indebted to these brothels that sometimes they stayed there their entire lives. Obviously finding true love and getting married was out of the question, and they weren't even allowed outside the immense walls of the district (except for once or twice a year on a specific day) so I really want to weave a story from that. Sometimes these girls would get lucky and a rich guy would buy her from the brothel and keep her as his ( ... )

It's always awkward leaving a job that you've been at awhile. That's a pretty long time for your first job! Way better than me, I walked out of my first one after about three months and just didn't come back. :-p Are you going to look for another job, or just hang out for awhile?

I'm going to take it easy for a good 2 or 3 weeks and then I'm out on a job hunt.

Hector, it is always sad to leave a job. But, wow! A year and a half? That's really good! :D
