You description makes me wonder why they didn't just animate it!

I think they just stopped trying to be NOT be cartoonish in this one, like shoot, let's just make everyone a stereotype. They were able to hit (in a two hour movie) every silly sterotype of the 1950s. But, on the other hand, ALIENS! LOST CITIES! ANTS!
