The mask is off; the Repugnicans are no longer bothering to pretend that it was ever a budget issue. Now we must take to the courts and to the streets, as long as it takes to regain our rights.

I've posted this in other places and other times, but I will say it again: You (not you, Mike, but the greater public "You") make a choice every 2 years when you vote. Choosing not to choose is a choice. In this case it was clearly not a good choice. For the next two years you have to live with the results of that choice. At least now, as you say, the mask is off and people can see what the cheap-labor Republicans stand for: 1) An underpaid working class desperate for any job that will keep them from starving. 2) A sub-standard public school system that insures a low-skill workforce. (Never think that Republican's children attend public school!) And 3) an upper class that enjoys low taxes and multiple tax loop-holes while the lower class has to pay and pay and pay.

Not much I can do except express Solidarnosc with my working class - ie, anyone who has to work for their living - brothers and sisters. A tory is a tory is a tory and s/he thinks you are worthless and deserving of nothing whereas they are flawlessly entitled and beyond the law.

Something we should ALL remember.

And thanks to cognitive disonnance, some tea partiers STILL think they're the voice of the common folk.

Last year, AFSCME gave over $87 million to the Democratic Party and its candidates. I don't see it as surprising that the Republicans are taking steps to de-fund their competition's biggest customer.

Not that I necessarily approve; I don't have a dog in this fight.

Surprising, no; reprehensible, yes. And the fact that it's unsurprising to see Republicans employing reprehensible tactics is telling.

(I would be surprised to see Democrats attempting to silence Republican constituencies, for instance by making it harder for military personnel overseas to vote.)

The Democraps in several states already did that in the last election.
