alex the famous african grey parrot died today at only 31. i'd write a whole book about him if i only had the time, and then those of you unfamiliar with him (and dr. irene pepperberg) might understand why it's so tragic to have lost him, especially so young. it breaks my heart. his death saddens me as much as the loss of harriet the tortoise (

I had never heard of him, and now I'm sad I didn't know of him while he was alive. It's weird that he just died, I didn't see any information on cause of death. How shocking and horrible it must have been for those researchers to discover him. That's fascinating research they're doing.
