have you ever suddenly experienced a shift in vision or perception?
sometimes, i'll look at somebody's face and it will seem distorted somehow, filtered,
or a familiar room will suddenly seem alien.
i have to blink several times, or close my eyes for a few minutes

I don't know about sudden shift in vision, but I remember during freshman year I had this bizarre experience where (in the quad) I was waiting for someone and I SWEAR I saw this huge ALIEN head walking towards me. No matter how much I rubbed my eyes, tried to get it in focus or something, all I could see was this huge ALIEN head. Of course, when the guy was within 20 ft. of me, he quickly became a normal human again (and I'm pretty sure he thought I was crazy for staring at him for so long), but it was really weird...

that is kind of similar to what i experience, but it's usually under fluorescent lighting, or in shaded areas, when the face i'm focusing on seems oddly distant, even when it's really close, and my sense of depth is just completely wacko.
