Kame breathed heavily as they finished filming another scene of the winter drama Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. It was terribly cold and he wanted nothing more but to go home and snuggle under his covers. That, or go to Pi’s house. He started. Where on earth did his thought come from? He remembered Jin’s crooked smile from the last time he had been at their place. Unbidden, his face started to heat up at the thought of the older man. He shook his head to rid himself of such thoughts. There’s no way he would like another guy. He is straight.

Kame sat down on one of the foldable chairs that were put up for the cast. He whipped out his phone to check if there were any messages left for him. To his surprise (or not) Pi texted him again, asking if he could come over. His eyes scrolled through the message and his face lit up in surprise at the last line.

“Jin’s been asking for you. He says he misses your cooking.”

Kame laughed, feeling strangely touched that Jin mentioned him. “Kamenashi-san! Standby!” He flipped his phone shut, feeling all giddy all of a sudden. He stood up and made his way back to the set, making the crew wonder what got Kame into high spirits all of a sudden.

---
After the incident in the kitchen, not once was it brought up, nor was it remembered that much. Jin seemed to be recovering from his injuries as the days passed. However, Pi noticed something different in Jin’s behavior. Jin would wake up later than usual and would sleep most of the times. When he asked Jin about it, Jin merely said he was feeling drained.

Pi got the shock of his life when he unlocked the door to their apartment and could hear screams coming from Jin’s room. In his haste to reach Jin, he tripped over his own clothes and cursed; he really should clean up. Entering Jin’s room without so much a noise, and peered down at Jin’s face.

Sweat was running down the side of his face as he tossed and turned, a frightened expression set into place. And then, the screaming began. Pi shook Jin to wake him up but all he got was a hit on his stomach when Jin had lashed out his arm. Pi groaned in pain and shook Jin harder, seriously worried for his friend.

Jin sat up with a gasp and fell down on the bed as a wave of dizziness hit him. His breathing was heavy as he recalled the vivid dream. “Jin?” He flinched away from the touch but not a millisecond later, he grasped Pi’s sleeve.

“I had a nightmare of the accident.”

Pi sat on the edge of the bed, “It has been going on for a while.” Jin admitted. Pi gave out a faint tsk. “Why didn’t you tell me?” He watched as Jin fidgeted and his fingers grasped the coarse fabric of the blanket. “’Cause, you were always busy and I know you’re tired. So I didn’t want to cause you unnecessary trouble.” Pi gave out a sigh and thumped Jin on his arm softly. “Idiot. I’m your best friend! I wouldn’t care if you gave me trouble.”

He gently pushed Jin down on the bed and brushed some bangs from Jin’s forehead. “Now, sleep, okay? I’ll just be in the other room in case you need anything.” As he was about to leave, Jin reached out and grabbed his hand. Pi looked down at their hands and then to Jin’s face. He knew that gesture. Jin was always clingy, and it was no surprise for Pi to have Jin clinging to him now.

“Alright, alright.”

With a resigned sigh, Pi lifted off the covers and got in bed with Jin who scooted to make space. “Just like old times eh, Bakanishi?” It was silent for a moment. Pi thought Jin had fallen asleep and covered him and Jin with the blanket. As he was about to fall asleep, he heard Jin whisper something.

“I’m glad you didn’t change much, Pi. You kept our promise.”

Pi just smiled and they held hands throughout the whole night.

---
The next morning, there was a comfortable silence as Pi and Jin ate their breakfast. Pi kept an eye on Jin as he ate, ready to help Jin in case he needed it. To his surprise, Jin had insisted he could eat on his own. But just in case…Pi was startled out of his thoughts when the doorbell rang.

“Are we expecting guests, Pi?”

“Errr…I don’t think so.”

Pi stood up and made his way to the door. He opened it and peeked outside and his face broke into a smile. “Reio!” Pi exclaimed in pleasant surprise as Jin’s younger brother offered a small smile before he turned serious. “How’s niichan?” In truth, he had wanted to visit Jin as soon as he heard of the accident but he was unable to do so with all the hustle and bustle of his stage play that just ended a day ago.

“So far he’s coping well…But, he’s been having nightmares of the accident and well…he screams. A lot.” Yamapi pursed his lips.

Reio frowned and Yamapi lets him enter. “It’s probably…trauma?” That could be the only reason. Of course; Jin was still a bit shaken up from the accident. Although he was good at hiding it, last night’s episode was proof that Jin was indeed bothered by the accident still.

The two were interrupted when they saw Jin rounding the corner. “Pi? Who is it?” He reached out and felt for his best friend when he collided into someone. Jin automatically felt for the person’s face before smiling an ear splitting smile. “Reio!” He ruffled his brother’s hair playfully.

“Tch! Niichan! Stop it! I’m not a kid anymore.” Jin just chuckled. Reio soon followed.

Pi was just glad that Jin is happy.

---
Two weeks later, Jin was starting to get restless for the end of the month to come. He can’t wait for the bandages to be taken off that he babbles about it day after day. Jin laughed as one of the dogs licked his hand. His thoughts suddenly strayed to Kame. For some reason, he was starting to miss the younger male and would often think if Kame would come by sometime.

Secretly, Jin had taken a liking to the younger boy. He found it endearing that Kame would cook for somebody he didn’t really know. And he even hugged him! A small smile decorated Jin’s face. He remembered seeing Kame on TV numerous times whether it be a drama or in a commercial.

He likes Kame. The way he acts as he portrays his character. He especially enjoys the drama Yuuki and cried when Kame’s character died. Pi had told him in an exasperated voice that it was only a drama, and for god’s sake shut up. But all he got was a sniff in reply and big, watery eyes looking up at him. Pi forgot why he was getting angry in the first place and patted Jin’s head.

He also likes hearing Kame’s voice. His favorite song is Kizuna. Jin remembered he even wrote a song in response to Kizuna - Care. Pi, of course, knew about this and teased Jin about his fascination for Kame. Jin had repeatedly told him to can it, and what’s wrong with liking Kame, anyway? Jin’s face flushed as he practically confessed his feelings.

Jin shook his head and laughed softly. “Kame wouldn’t like someone like me, ne Maru, Pin.”

“He’s just…out of my reach.”

He wondered why that statement hurt so much.

---
The next night, Jin was surprised that Kame visited him again. At first, it was awkward as they had nothing to talk about and they just sat together but then, Kame broke the silence. “So…Where’s Pi?” Jin shrugged his shoulders, “He was called in for work, apparently.”

“Oh.”

Another silence commenced. Jin cleared his throat.

“So…Jin. What do you usually do?”

“Me? Oh…I’m a professor in a university.”

“What do you teach?”

“English.” Jin paused. “Is this twenty questions?”

Unknown to him, Kame blushed at Jin’s question. He just wanted to know more about the older man, that’s all. He stammered out a, “E-English? That’s amazing!” Jin smiled. Jin always had a liking to the English language and would use it more often than not to his friend Pi just to confuse the hell out of him.

“Thanks.” Jin fell silent, “I can’t wait to teach again.”

Kame stared at him. Jin sort of had a longing look on his face and it made his heart clench with an unknown feeling. “I’m sure your students miss you.” Kame said, surprising both him and Jin. “I hope so!” Jin exclaimed, suddenly feeling giddy all of a sudden.

Kame suddenly finds Jin’s lips interesting and focuses on how Jin’s voice sounded. All husky and deep and sensual and - dare he say it - arousing. He leans in closer and, before he can even stop himself, presses a kiss on Jin’s parted lips. It was but a mere touch of skin but it sent Kame’s senses reeling and he leaned in closer.

Jin, on the other hand was shocked that Kame would kiss him. Jin couldn’t deny it was like a dream come true and when Kame’s tongue darted out to lick his lips, Jin moaned at the feeling. Kame was even more encouraged hearing Jin’s moan and deepened the kiss, softly licking Jin’s lips and asking for permission. He was more than glad when Jin opened his mouth and started kissing him back, occasionally sucking on his tongue. “Kame…” Jin breathed.

It was then Kame came back to his senses and practically tore his mouth away from Jin’s. He was breathing heavily, fully aware that he was aroused. As he looked over Jin, he froze at Jin’s state. Jin, too, was panting heavily and his swollen lips breathed out Kame’s name. “Kame…what…” Jin asked, bewildered but mostly aroused from what just took place between him and Kame.

“I’m sorry…I…”

“Why’d you stop?” Jin interrupted Kame’s apology and the younger male was shocked at Jin. “Why did I stop…? Jin! We can’t possibly and - I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have, we barely know each other and yet…!” His tirade was cut off when he saw Jin’s hurt look. “So. It was just an accident. The heat of the moment, is that it?” Kame gasped, “No, Jin! I - we can’t! You’re still…” Jin laughed without humor, “Blind, right? I didn’t expect you to pity me, Kame.” Jin smirked, “Of course. That’s why you’re here right?!” His voice rose an octave higher, “You’re only here out of pity!” It was said with so much malice and hurt that Kame felt his eyes watering.

What is this? When had he fallen for Jin? Looking at the older man, Kame was at a loss as to what to do. “Jin…” He whispered, and was shocked when Jin’s lips started quivering. Kame held Jin’s face in his hands. “It’s not like that Jin,” he patiently started, “I’m only worried. Your wounds aren’t all that healed yet and…the truth is, I don’t know what I feel towards you.” He admitted with a shaky sigh.

Jin was silent, so Kame continued. “I like your smile. I like cooking for you. I like talking to you and would feel giddy for no reason at all when I think about you!” Kame confessed, blushing a nice shade of red.

“Kame…” Jin whispered, feeling touched. “Kiss me.”

Kame opened his mouth agape. “W-what?” Jin looked dead serious. “Kiss me. I like you, Kame. I won’t deny that. I like you.” Kame blushed at Jin’s confession and laughed softly. He felt happy. Jin likes him! Kame leaned in, and pecked Jin’s lips once, twice, before fully kissing him on the lips.

Jin grabbed one of Kame’s hand and tugged Kame to him so that Kame was straddling him. He wrapped his arms around Kame’s waist and kissed him without inhibition. “Mm…Jin.” Kame moaned as he felt a bulge under him. They continued to kiss each other until the need of air became apparent and they both broke away, laughing.

“So…” Jin started.

“Mm?”

“What do we call this?”

Kame thought for a moment. He and Jin practically confessed to each other so it’s safe to say, “Erm. A relationship, I guess.” Came Kame’s unsure answer. He wound his arms around Jin’s neck and kissed him softly. “Calling it a relationship would be nice.” Jin hummed in approval.

“I like you too, Jin.” Jin flashed Kame one of his crooked smiles.

---
“You and Kame are what?!” Pi screeched, making Jin and Kame both flinch from the intensity of the voice. Pi could not believe what he saw when he entered the house and traipsed into the living room to see his best friend and Kame making out on their couch. He went bug eyed at the display in front of him.

Flashback:

“Ah! Kame!” Jin moaned, running his hand through Kame’s hair who was still straddling him. Kame buried his face in Jin’s neck and bit a certain spot that had Jin cry out. Kame licked the spot he had bitten before sneaking a hand in between their bodies. He grasped Jin’s erection lightly, delighting in Jin’s moan as he threw his head back.

They were obviously oblivious to the third party that chanced upon them as they continued their little session. However, Yamapi had had enough and the first thing that escaped his lips was, “AGH!” Not the most eloquent thing to say but it somehow fit the situation. The reaction was immediate; Jin and Kame immediately broke apart and Yamapi cursed himself for walking in on such a scene.

“What….WHAT IS THIS?!”

“So…Let me get this straight…” Yamapi started, massaging his temples. “You and Kame are in a relationship.” Receiving two nods, he continued, “and…When did this happen?” He looked to Kame for an answer. The boy in question stared up at Yamapi, “Just earlier, actually…”

Yamapi sighed. Great. He just hoped he wouldn’t walk in on the two making out or doing something more than that from now on.

---
The end of the month came by fast. Jin found himself sitting in one of the chairs, fidgeting nervously. Beside him, Pi was calm as ever, occasionally whistling a tune under his breath. When the doctor entered, Pi smiled and bowed in greeting. “So, Akanishi-san, ready to take off the bandages?”

All he got was an excited nod that made Pi chuckle. “Okay, then!” Slowly, the doctor untied the bandage and carefully unwound it around Jin’s eyes. Pi watched anxiously as eyelids started to be seen. Soon, the bandage was off completely and was discarded. “Try opening your eyes, Akanishi-san.” Jin did as he was told; he slowly opened his eyes and immediately closed them as he was not yet used to the brightness.

This kept going on for a few minutes until Jin finally opened them and took a good look around the room. “I can see, Pi! I can finally see!” Jin breathed and Pi hugged his best friend, truly happy for him. “You did well, Jin.” He ruffled Jin’s hair.

With that, the two friends went home, Jin taking in the sights that he couldn’t see when he was blind.

---

“So…let me get this straight; we stopped by a flower shop to buy some red roses and now you want to see Kame?” Jin nodded. “It’s a surprise! He doesn’t know that I’ve regained my eyesight and I want to surprise Kame!” Pi sighed. “Alright, alright. Although Kame’s filming for a drama, I suppose we can drop by.” Jin smiled widely.

“Thanks, Pi! You’re the best!”

Pi sent a sideway glance at Jin who was looking giddy and happy. Pi allowed himself a small smile. He really was glad Jin regained his eyesight back. Soon, Pi could see the building where the filming took place. Jin was in awe ate all the equipment that were on standby outside the building. “Wow…This is the first time I’ve been in an actual set!” Jin exclaimed, voice thick with awe.

Pi just chuckled and parked his car. “Let’s go Bakanishi.” They both got out of the car and, thankfully, was able to enter the building with the reason that Pi would just be visiting his band mate, Tegoshi Yuya. Jin stuck close to Pi, clutching the bouquet of flowers in his hands. The world of idols sure is different.

Jin collided on Pi’s back when he abruptly stopped. “Here we are Jin. Kame’s right behind that door.” At the mention of Kame, Jin immediately perked up. He raised a fist to knock on the door when he heard voices. He and Pi leaned in closer.

---
“So, Kame. How is it going with Akanishi, is it?” One cheerful Tegoshi Yuya asked.

“Eh? What about Jin?” Came Kame’s answer.

There was shuffling before Tegoshi laughed, “Oh come on! Lately, you’ve been talking to me about him!” Kame blushed, “It’s not like that…” He weakly protested. “Not like that…?” Tegoshi asked, puzzled, “So…is he some one night stand or something? A fling?”

Outside, Jin clenched the bouquet when no answer came. Did Kame really see him as a one night stand? A fling? He felt tears welling up in his eyes. So…Those touches, those kisses, were just because Kame found him to be convenient at the time? Pi looked at Jin worriedly and was about to make his way inside when Jin grasped his sleeve.

“Never mind, Pi.” Jin choked and placed the bouquet of flowers on the floor. “Let’s just go.” Pi still wanted to barge inside but looking at Jin’s helpless expression, he just nodded and lead Jin outside and into his car.

“I knew it…we can’t be together, after all. He’s too far out of my reach…”

Pi gripped the steering wheel harder. He looked at Jin to see him looking out the window, almost as if lifeless. This wasn’t was supposed to happen, Pi thought. Jin would’ve surprised Kame and Kame would be happy and then…A sniff brought his attention to Jin to see him crying. Friend or not, he would not forgive anyone who hurts Jin.

---

“Well, see ya later Kame!” Tegoshi called out a few minutes later when Kame still didn’t answer his question about a certain Akanishi and opened the door. A bouquet of flowers sat there and he daintily picked it up and read the card.

To Kame,
Surprise! Good luck with your drama filming!
From,
AJ

“AJ…?” Kame widened at the mention of the initials he knew. He almost violently grabbed the flowers from Tegoshi and held back a whimper. Jin was there just minutes ago! He could have heard their conversation! Dashing out of the room, he stopped by at the entrance and asked the guard if somebody came in. The guard seemed to ponder for a moment, “Ah! Yes. Yamashita-san and a friend came by earlier. And, I see you got the flowers!”

But Kame wasn’t listening anymore; he stared at the outside and gripped the bouquet of flowers tighter in his grasp.

“Jin…”

---

To be continued.
