Andrew Boysen is the man...I've learned so much from him in 5 weeks of independent study conducting. It makes me realize only stronger that I'm supposed to be a choral conductor

Oh dear god, anyone but Kempster! Boysen would be great, I'm sure. Just not friggin' Kempster. He has made with us old-timers, and if we had any votes, it would surely not be him. Eshbach wants new blood, and I think that would be appropriate, if Boysen didn't have it.
I only know Boysen through a piece of his that I played in the NH All-State orchestra way back in 1991 -- "Cassus Belli" -- which (according to the conductor) he had written when he was 18. All of us in All-State were blown away by that :) It was a chilling, terrific piece, and if he can conduct an orchestra half as well as he writes for one, he's the man.
Boysen is pretty much the exact opposite of Kempster in terms of both physical conducting and personality. As a rehersal technician he's quiet and demure yet effective.
In terms of physical conducting, he uses his whole body and is much more fluid a conductor than Kempster.
