O.M.G. O___o
You know, I've read the Divine Comedy thoroughly for literature classes AND for personal obsession, (I also wondered how would it sound *translated* in different languages, since it's difficult even for Italian people! But this is off topic..) And well... the Comedy is probably one of the most famous books in the world, I let you imagine HOM much our Italian teacher made us study it. <.<
Yet, I never thought of relating it to DMC (which is odd).
And I *must* say I totally agree with you on the Dante-betrayer-of-Vergil part.
This said, I shall bow to you and snag the Vergil icon immediately.
Because n00bs tend to talk to much. I know.

I'm not particularly crazy about it, but I've gotten through it once, and I've flipped through it a few other times for reference. It just kind of struck me, and it fell together, the band called "the Antenora", and then me feverishly searching for what "Antenora" meant. It's kind of funny.

The more I thought about it, the more I could see how Dante is the betrayer to his brother-while Virgil, even though he was an asshole to Dante, still did his best to protect him-Dante completely disregards his brother in terms of family. It's not until Lady mentions it (or pounds it into his head a few times) that he really seems to understand. Even in DMC, he's kind of like "... okay, whatever," even though it should be an emotional scene. I don't know, I'm kind of interested to see what they do with them in DMC4, and if Dante matures a little with the whole family aspect. Because, to me, he's still the worst out of all of them. Virgil may be psychotic, but his intentions are still present.

Needless to say, I totally agree with you.
Virgil (OMG finally people who like calling him Virgil instead of Vergil! <3 Or was it a typo? XD) might slash/hurt/kick/be a total prick when it comes to social relationships, but he asked Dante a million times to join him, after all <.< Not because it's what bad guys usually ask to the main character, but because he's his twin. They'd be invincible together, and they proved it in the last battle. (*side note: the jackpot scene probably realized one of my greatest dreams XD*)
And yes, Dante's always indifferent to things that he should at least care about. That scene in DMC1 was almost offensive <.<
"Oh, look, seems like I killed my twin brother. *15 secs of silence* Oh well, I acquired a new weapon and DUDE it rocks!"
Not to mention the fact that he actually cried for Trish, that he met two days before and was created by his enemy. Unfair.

Well, we don't know anything about DMC4 yet (do we?), but let's at least hope that Virgil *will* be there. (DMC2 sadness)

Well, since the poet was named Virgil, and the name "Dante" is Italian, I think I decided against the germanic spelling and went straight to the italian. I still get ragged for doing it a ton, unfortunately.

Yeah, I think it's Dante who creates the biggest rift between them. I have the feeling that Virgil would really do anything to protect him, if he could, despite his social dysfunctions.

And as for DMC4 ...

Whoa. You really dug deep. I'm taking these. Awesome work, both on the icons and the research.

Ohh, I can't help it. Things just start pouring out all over, you know? One thing leads to another and it's like some huge domino effect. But thanks. I appreciate the kudos.
