I went today to get screened for Lasik. My mother has been pestering me for a couple of years now to check into it. She wants to do this for me as a gift. I've put off looking into it basically because I was afraid the doctor would tell me it wasn't an option for me, or that they would finally discover some terrible eye disease that was causing my

Baldodad had LASIK done last summer. He had terrible astigmatism, almost to the point where glasses didn't correct it.

He is happy as a clam.

The procedure was very quick and he was walking around with accurate vision the next day. The aftercare was a bit tricky--lots of drops at regular intervals--but I wouldn't say it was bad. He had one eye corrected for nearsightedness and one for farsightedness, so he will probably not need reading glasses.
