This guy named Tom, who apparently is very involved in the poetry community of Austin somehow, was talking to me and the director of the museum today about all the poetry readings he's involved in around town...organizes them, he says. oh man, that's--get this--"Thom the World Poet"! He has his moments as a poet, but you have to wade through TONS of just-knocked-off disposable crap to get to it. He used to slam, rarely won, and therefore decided it was crap. He self-publishes chapbooks, because it's also true that the literary magazines that won't publish him are terrible. what's NOT terrible? his chapbooks! open mics where he's a regular!

That's so funny! He's doing some kind of event here at our museum... he's reserved the space or whatever for some party, and he just brought me a photocopied "chapbook" of his stuff. Yeah, his name is Thom the world poet. That's hilarious.

I've heard about this Thom. Apparently he picked on some SWT poets back while I was there and began waging a war with the poetry program. Is he an older guy?
