Apple to switch to Intel?

It does seem that the switch would be more troublesome for Apple in the short term but who is to say what the long term benefits could be. As I see it this all really depends on IBM and how much trouble Apple has had and is having getting things done with IBM. If Intel has done some or all of the RnD on PPC chips then it just might happen as IBM seems to be giving Apple some problems. Who knows though no one has heard from IBM on this so... It is most likely a similar stunt to what DELL pulled last month. They (DELL) claimed that they might start supporting AMD CPUs but no go. In fact I had read somewhere that DELL and Apple have pulled this type of thing in the past to put pressure on Intel and IBM respectively.

It helps Apple in that it allows current Windows users to switch to OSX (or OSXI) without buying new hardware - smaller financial investment means more people trying Mac.

I hope you check your comments regularly.
